Quilt Along With June-Block Three
Welcome back happy quilters!
First off...when was the last time you changed your sewing machine needle?
They should be changed after about 8 hours of sewing and a good way of remembering this is to change your needle when you start a new project.
This week the block is a lovely star, and we all love stars in quilts.

First step the cutting:
Cut (8) 4 1/2" background squares
Trim one print charm to 4 1/2".
Cut (8) 2 1/2" squares of the same fabric as the previously mentioned Charm.

  • Draw a diagonal line on each of the (8) 2 1/2" squares.
  • Place one on the corner of a 4 1/2" background square.
  • Sew on the line.(Remember to sew a thread away from the line on the side you will be cutting off).
  • Trim seam to ¼ " and press toward triangle.

  • Repeat 3 more times using three more of the 4 1/2" background squares.
  • Next sew the remaining (4) 2 1/2" squares to the opposite side of the units just made.
  • Trim and press.

  • Lay out the units with the remaining 4 1/2" background squares, the 4 1/2" printed square and the trimmed charms making a 9 patch.
  • Sew together.
  • Square up to 12 1/2".

And there you have it, sew easy, yet so lovely!

I hope you are having doing this quilt along. See you in a couple of weeks.
