and welcome to

Block Two of the Threads that Bind Playful Precuts Sew Along.

I hope you are all keeping busy sewing and keep your stress levels down along with it.
I can’t say enough about this book, Playful Precut Quilts. It has so many ideas for you to use some of those precuts you have on hand or about to buy from Threads that Bind.

Last time they used two different blocks together to make the cutest little cat quilt.

This time they are only using the one block throughout the quilt. Making it the simplest quilt ever. But you have to have the book to see the quilt designs(hint)
The name of this block is Rise and Shine. Easy Easy Easy.

These are the pieces we will need for this block.

First of all, we trim down our 5-inch charm to 4.5 by 4.5 inches.

Next you will need (4) 4.5 by 2-inch prints for the centre accent
Then you will need (4) 4.5 by 2-inch print for the border accent.
The corners will take (4) 4.5 by 2-inch print and (4) 3 by 2 inch of the same print.
Then you will need (4) 3 by 3-inch squares of white or other background colour.
And lastly (4) 4.5 by 1.5 inch of white or the same background colour.

First thing we do is make the corner units using the white 3 by 3-inch square and the 3 by 2 inch and the 4.5 by 2-inch corner fabric you have chosen.
Sew the 3 by 2-inch strip to the white square and press towards the strip.
Now sew the 4.5 by 2-inch strip to the unit you have just made. Press. Square up to 4.5 by 4.5. Make 4 of these units.

Next take the white 4.5 by 1.5 and sew a 4.5 by 2 border accent strip to one side and then sew the centre accent strip to the other side of the white. Press. Make 4 of these units.

Lay the sections out as in the following diagram and sew together like a 9 patch.

And there you have it… How easy was that!!

Have a great couple of weeks and see you next time.
