Block 6

Gingham Patch

Well, the line of fabric I am using does not have a gingham in it. So I chose another fabric and I think it works well. This just shows you that you don’t have to stick with the fabric that the pattern calls for. Step out of the box and choose your own colours and fabrics. You will be surprised how well your choices work.
On to the pattern

You will need the following for your block:-

1 Charm for the centre trimmed to 4.5"
(12) 2 1/2" squares of colour A for the corner units
(12) 2 1/2" squares of colour B also for the corner units.
(4) 4 1/2"x 2 1/2" rectangles of colour B
(4) 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangles of background colour

Using 8 Colour A and 8 colour B-2 1/2" squares – make 8 half square triangles.

Make the corner units using 2 half square triangle units, 1 of the 2 1/2" colour A square and 1 of the 2 1/2" colour B square.
Lay out as in the following picture, sew together and press.

Repeat 3 more times to make a total of 4 corner units.

Next sew a 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangle of colour B to 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangle of background fabric. Press.

Make 3 more of these units.

Lay out all of the units as shown in the following picture.
Sew together pressing all the seams open.

Well done, Quilters!
You have completed block 6 of this Playful Precut Quilt Along.
